What is the easiest way to get a project to a user? I am an ed tech coach for a K12 school district and would love to use Captivate to create eLearning professional development options, but I’m struggling to find a good way to get the projects to my teachers.

It depends. Some people believe that only passive video can offer good tutorials (look at YouTube) and that you can learn that way. Others believe that efficient learning requires a lot of interactivity, control by the learner because it will be more engaging. The conservative teachers tell you that you need a manual or book for teaching… Where is the truth?  Probably a combination of all possible assets, without forgetting about enabling discussions  (and more) between peers and student-coach.

Since you found Captivate, which is an eLearning authoring tool meant in the first place to develop highly interactive courses, the output in that case would be a folder (like a website) which needs to be uploaded to a webserver or a Learning Management System. Webserver is easily to be set up but has the restriction that you will not get feedback about the learner’s progress. A LMS is the ‘buddy’ of each eLearning authoring tool: takes care of managing user accounts, their progress, gradebook etc. Some LMSs are free (Moodle). You school or region may already have such a LMS, please get informtion.

You can also publish to passive video (MP4) which can be useful to show workflows (short) which can be viewed JIT or to review a (forgotten) process that you don’t use often. Same way you probably use YouTube to find a workflow to replace a battery or do some maintenance for some of your equipment… For that type of videos you can upload to the webserver or the LMS (if it allows that type of asset) but also on YouTube of Vimeo.
