All.

I don’t mean to take up your time, I just wanted to say hi as a new community member, or at least a new user. I am taking some time to watch some of the videos on demand and checking out some projects that have been made with Captivate 2019. I am learning a lot about some of the new features of the software. I am looking to pull the trigger on purchase of a new tool and I tend to do a lot of research. I am not going to ask what to choose in this post, as I have my thoughts on what the answers might be.

For now, I just wanted to say hi and if you would like to share any words of wisdom on tools, I am happy to hear it. If you have any ideas for me as I work to transition from in-class instructor to online developer and facilitator, I would love to hear them as well.

Thanks

Welcome to the community, glad to have you on board as your career seems to be similar to mine. I have been a professor and trainer, coach for decades but switched now completely to online training (mostly about and using Captivate). No need to persuade you of the many features of Captivate, am sure that you’ll discover them. Just want to point out a features that is often overlooked: being part of the Adobe family it has great ways to use other Adobe applications as servers for assets (Photoshop, Audition, Animate, Illustrator to mention some…).

Thanks Lieve.

That is some good information to consider. I am not the most up to speed on other Adobe apps, but I have thought of taking some courses.

Thanks

You’re welcome. May I also give you this link to a blog which results of over 10 years of Captivate consultancy and daily support on social media? It lists up the real stumbling blocks for the majority of newbies and intermediate users. If you are also in for responsive projects, I would add a 4th which is the fluid boxes workflow. Not so easy as some seem to tell.

For those three stumbling blocks you’ll find a Resources document (not on my personal blog) in this portal. It lists up all articles directly related to Timeline, Theme or Quizzes. I try to keep the documents updated but since moderation is so slow here do not feel very inspired to spend more hours.
