Trying to Find a New Job During a Pandemic

Greetings all.

I have started writing this post a couple of times now, but the tone just wasn’t right for what I wanted to get across, so I am going to try to be simple, straightforward and quicker than my previous attempts.

As the headline states, I have been trying to secure work during this pandemic. To get to the point, it has not gone as well as I had hoped it would. With the number of Instructional Design and eLearning jobs I have found, applied for and the few interviews I have had, I would have thought it might go a bit better. I am someone who has some experience in a couple of industries, I learn quickly, I have skills that match job descriptions, but I still search.

Please, do not feel sorry for me, that is not what I am looking for. I thought my experiences might match other people and that kind of validation would help me. But I also thought that talking about this might help others as well. Maybe there are others out there feeling alone in their job search, wondering if anyone else is as unsuccessful as they are. I know that would help me. So, here I share.

I enjoy what I do. I develop curriculum and teach part time at a University and a College, conduct Corporate Training sessions, and I have done some eLearning Instructional Design work for a corporate client. What I truly enjoy is Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, and working with eLearning tools, which is why I am on this community. We all want to do something that we enjoy, and I am pushing forward to try to make that happen.  I have to believe I will get there and I have to keep at it, and I will continue to do so.

While it has been a difficult time and it isn’t one yet, there are bright spots in this whole experience. I was able to spend invaluable time with my family, I am continuing to learn new skills, and I am trying to stay positive. It is what I can do right now, so this is how I move forward.

My next post will be on a different subject, I promise. I plan to work on some projects I want to try out with Captivate, so hopefully I will have something to share soon. I have a direction. Away we go.

Thanks for reading.
