I couldn’t open the captivate file on another computer.

I am using the trial version of Adobe Captivate 2019 release and tried to open the file on another computer (same version). But it says

Adobe Captivate could not open “FileName.cptx”. Ensure that:

– The file is not open already.

– The file is not damaged. For example, if the file was an email attachment, ensure that you have decoded the file correctly.

– The hard disk has sufficient available space.

– The system has sufficient resources. To optimize all resources, close all other applications.

Is there anyone who knows the solution?

Did you find a solution to this? I’m hoping something like this won’t happen to me when I try to open projects on a different computer.

It may be the version issue as mentioned above.  I have had this same series of issues each time I tried to use older versions from my laptop on the newer version on my desktop.

This happens to me when I save a project to a work computer where the file is saved on a server. If I then put it on a USB/add it to a cloud/email to myself, this happens. The only way I can do this to swap between the computer on the server, and one that isn’t is to save the project directly to a USB from within Captivate.

This is probably another issue. Captivate files should be on your system when you are working on them. Do not use a networked or external drive. Once you have finished with the project editing you can transfer it to an external of networked drive.

I am still waiting for an answer from the OP about the exact version number.

CP2019 had 5 different releases. You probably try to open the file created with the trial version in an older version. That is not possible. Check the exact version numbers please, under Help, About Captivate. Your trial version will probably be 11.5.1….. and the other PC may have 11.0…. The ellipsis stands for the rest of the number which may be different. You cannot open a 11.5 project in version 11.0.
