Project size changes to a different setting.
I’m currently working in Adobe Captivate 9. Each slide in the project needs to have a custom CC area at the bottom. The current size of the template is 1200×750.
The new project size needs to be 1200×790. I start by deselecting the maintain aspect ratio. I change the height from 750 to 790. I recheck the “maintain aspect” radio option.
Under the “If new size is larger” section, I choose the “Keep the project the same size and position the objects” option with the project position of “top center.” I select finish and close the window. But when I go back into the rescale project option, the project position jumps from “Top Center” to “Center.”
Is there a reason why this is happening?
Simple maths learn that you have two opposite requirements.
The aspect ratio of your original project is 1200/750 = 1.6
You want it to become 1200/790 = 1.518 but you override that by checking the ‘maintain aspect ratio’…. Captivate listens and does the last requirement.
It is like guiding a driver. You first tell him to go to the left, and then change your mind and say ‘No, to the right’. If you are lucky there is no accident, and the quick-minded driver will turn to the right. Captivate is a quick-minded driver.
Did you read my answer carefully? Do you not believe me anymore, I have offered you multiple answers so far? The issue is with ‘Maintain aspect ratio’, the other options have no meaning in this particular use case because you CANNOT maintain aspect ratio, you want the result to have a DIFFERENT ratio.
If you don’t believe me, OK. Hope someone else can convince you. I even tried adding a funny metaphor. You want to drive right, then for 20m, but if the driver goes left you’ll never reach your destination… GPS truth
