When going through the Adobe Certification, I thought I heard that the widgets are flash based. What is Adobe doing to convert these widgets over since flash will be retired by the end of this year?

The widgets are great and very useful so I am hoping they have plans for them to work in a post-flash world.

I believe the Certification the poster is referring to was the certification offered by Adobe, not a feature of the software.

OK… not the first confusion from the Certification training…  Already had to solve many like that.

I think Lieve is forgetting about the widgets that can be found through the insert dropdown menu. For example, if you click on the Insert dropdown menu and select Widgets, you will have the option to insert these old SWF based objects into your course. An example of such a Widget would be the Playbar widget or the Combobox widget. You should avoid using these and in some cases, there are very good alternatives that are HTML5 compatible.

I didn’t forget about them, only wrote that Learning Interactions, which are also indicated as ‘Widgets’ and are SWF-based but still can perfectly be used for HTML output.

The mentioned example Certification is one of the Learning Interactions.  Confusion stems from the fact that the Learning Interactions are still indicated on several locations (Properties) as ‘Widgets’. Terminology is very confusing.

More info in this blog, which was written when CP8 was the most recent version:

The Learning interactions are compatible with HTML5, they don’t need the Flash Player.
