I’m the training facilitator for our company and we’ve moved from ILT (Instructor Led Training -in person training) to VILT (Virtual) using MS Teams because of the coronavirus. We want to capture these sessions using Adobe Captivate 2019 but results have been sporadic. Video capture always works but more often than not the only audio that is recorded is my voice (I’m not the instructor) through my microphone even when I check the box for using system audio. These are all-day sessions with lots of Q & A so recording the Instructor’s narrative after the fact is not an option. I’ve reviewed all the audio settings, tried selecting the option to capture the application (MS Teams) instead of the screen on which the meeting is being displayed and sometimes it works and others it doesn’t.
I’ve also had the issue of recording system audio through Captivate. I can record my voice but when i try to record system audio it records with glitches in the sound. My colleague has had the same issue. I’ve tried updating Captivate, updating the audio driver in Windows, and searching Adobe Community Forums for the answer. I’ve even attended webinars and put the issue in the chat pod with no answer. I’m not sure if this feature is blocked now because of copyright issues (recording audio from YouTube videos, etc), but I would love an answer. I provided a video sample of what happens when I attempt to record system audio…..listen for the glitches.
I checked out MS Teams. If you use the Business version it has a native recording tool, why do you not use that? I don’t know about its limitations of course.
Video Demo has been used for that type of capturing, it is more like Camtasia. A long recording like that will indeed lead to big file sizes, but that is the case with all recording tools.
I completely agree with Lieve. I would use another tool to capture video. While captivate can do this, it is better suited for creating interactive learning. I would try another tool for this goal of capturing video. And make sure that you have a machine with lots of ram as capturing the training using a separate tool than the one producing the videos will impact performance greatly.
Coincidence, I am just discussing with a client about the platform to use for training. They insist also on using MS Teams, but for your reasons and many other I try to convince them that Adobe Connect is a much better solution for training itself (ease of recording, and deploying or even editing the recording). Other plaforms like BlueJeans have also many limitations. If they insist on MS Teams, I will include the limitations in the contract.
This is not really an answer to your problem. Needing to use a third application like Camtasia or Captivate to record seems lot too cumbersome.
