Amazon AWS – Recommendation Request

Hey folks.

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe.

I have noticed some recommendations on a few different blogs, articles, etc. recommending AWS as a place to store and share work. I have also reviewed some elearning samples that had aws in the address bar.

As I was looking into it for consideration, I noticed they had a lot of free options, which got me to thinking, what do others use? So that is the question of the day, if you are using Amazon aws to store and share your work, what are you using? Hopefully I can ask this question here.

As always, your help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have used this service and it works well.

In order to stay within the free parameters, though, you are limited to how much data you can put there each month. In some cases, that could mean waiting until the next month to upload your revisions to a project. So depending on how much stuff you intend to put out there could make a difference.

Here is the information right from their site.

AWS Free Tier

As part of the AWS Free Tier, you can get started with Amazon S3 for free. Upon sign-up, new AWS customers receive 5GB of Amazon S3 storage in the S3 Standard storage class; 20,000 GET Requests; 2,000 PUT, COPY, POST, or LIST Requests; and 15GB of Data Transfer Out each month for one year.

Your usage for the free tier is calculated each month across all AWS Regions except the AWS GovCloud Region and automatically applied to your bill; unused monthly usage will not roll over. Restrictions apply; see offer terms for more details.

Beyond this – you’ll be charged so much per GB

I prefer to have my own space through Bluehost, GoDaddy, or some other such domain hosting service so that I do not run into limitations and have greater flexibility.

Thanks for your comment. Since posting this question, I have found a few other posts on this subject.

I did read that same text on the aws site, and with my current expected output I do not believe I would go beyond that right now, but definitely something to think about long term.

Appreciate the comment. Thanks.
