Create an Online Course Self-study or Evening Classes out of PDF

What are the best options to create a nice online study for my students out of my PDF created distance learning and power point presented evening classes. I would like to combine both into one online system, with a possibility of learning the matters and training via multiple choice questions. Besides text a lot of graphics is needed to explain the matters as in the FAA’s pilot training manual can be seen…

Thanks in advance for advising,

Brgds Erwin Prins

Which type of topics are you teaching? Which educational methods are your students used to? I’m asking this because as a professor in a university college I have been using Captivate to create eLearning assets which became part of the my coaching ideas, but never replaced them. What is in a term? I used Captivate tutorials for technical topics (Soil Mechanics, Construction Physics), for Project management methods, for Software training. They didn’t all fit in the same coaching strategy: I used Flipped classes, problem-based learning, project-based learning including peer training etc…

Personally I find MCQ question for ‘training’ having very low efficiency, sorry to tell so. You can never test acquired skills with them, even if you are very experienced in setting up that type of questions which is already very demanding.

One aspect which is mostly ignored is social learning (discussions, peer training, challenges).  Lot more a problem with pure online training then with F2F classes and blended learning. Blended learning is also a word which has different meaning for each author. Example: today an article is posted about Blended learning, but my ideas are completely different about that most efficient learning way. Careful with terminology.

I don’t want to minimize the importance of Captivate, do not understand me wrongly. I am still very grateful to have discovered Captivate 15 years ago, because many of my educational projects would never have been possible without Captivate.

KUDOS to the Captivate team for their patience with my stubborn logging of feature requests!

Adobe captivate is a great resource to do just this. You can display text that users read. You can add images, create quizzes, and knowledge checks and a wealth of other activities all in Captivate.
