Images:

  1. Use adobe photoshop to compress large size 360 images. Use save as, to save in an appropriate optimized format.(medium to high depending upon output file size) format option can be kept : ‘baseline optimized’
  2. If your image size is not expressed in the nearest power of 2, you can do this by going to image size options.  (this allows faster seamless loading on various 360 headsets/platforms)
  • Generally, 360 images will be in size ratio of 2:1, but the height and width dimensions may not be expressed in the power of 2: (unit pixels)
  • Suppose your image size is 4200 x 2100 pixels: You may consider expressing it as :
    • Nearest lower power of 2 to 4200 is  2^12 = 4096
    • 2100 is   2^11 = 2048

Videos:

  1. Only .mp4 360 videos are supported in Captivate.
  2. Normally videos from a different/non-supported codec automatically launch Adobe Media Encoder to convert it into a supported codec once you browse a video and click import.
  3. If it fails, you may consider opening Adobe Media Encoder, and converting it into a H.264 and select Preset : match source high bitrate, and then try importing the converted 360 video as background in Captivate.
  4. If you want to edit frames or empty/black screens(trim videos) then you can consider using Adobe Premier Pro.

Very interesting. I have been experimenting with 360 photos in Captivate and may be able to use this soon.

Thanks for the post!
