I created a button and set it up not to appear at 415 secs. Set my slide duration to 450 to be safe. Now the button won’t even appear. I reset it for 0 secs and it worked, 1 sec and it worked but it won’t work for my 415 secs. Any suggestions?

Based on the timeline screen shots, I cannot imagine why it would not work as you planned, but I never worked on slide duration that is that long. Could it be a bug in Captivate that is rarely seen since it’s also rare for lesson developers to have slide this long?
.
What preview did you use to test it? Slide preview? Project Preview? HTML5 in browser?

Sorry to mention a typo: there is NO Slide Preview. Under the Preview button there is Play Slide (too bad it has been put there) which is not a Preview method at all. That is only meant for synchronizing reasons, not to preview.

For HTML5 output the only valid Preview method in a non-responsive project is F11, Preview HTML  in Browser. Project Preview and other Preview methods show SWF output.

The main problem in the timeline is that Event video has been used, unsynchronized with Captivate’s timeline and not controlled by Captivate. It should have been slide video.

BTW: the duration of the slide is probably due to the fact that the length of the video_object (event video) was taken over to increase its timeline.

It has a video in the slide. The video needs to play the full way through before the next button can be clicked so that they can’t cheat.

Is this slide video? I would have that button appear little bit before the video ends. The pausing point can be immediately at the end of the video and the inactive part doesn’t need to be that long. Drag it on top in the Timeline stack or use the Arrange menu to get it in Front.

Sorry, didn’t look well at the Timeline. You have to switch from Event video (you have Event video) to Slide video. Event video is playing completely independent of Captivate’s timeline, has no sense to set up the Timeline like you did. It would be much easier if you had Slide video.

If you insist on using Event video, you will need JS to detect the end of the video and show the Next button when that event is occurring.

Why do you need such a long slide? Do you have slide audio?  That is normally the only reason why you should want a slide that long. Personally I almost never have slides over 1 minute. It helps to keep audio clips small, since they need to be loaded On Enter for each slide.

Can you tell the exact version you are using( full number is mentioned under Help, About Captivate) and the OS?

Please post a screenshot of the Timeline of that slide, will make it easier to have an idea of the possible causes.
