Print to Word Error – not working

Publish to MS Word failed.  Retry after enduring that

-The document is not open

-You have installed Microsoft Word

Captivate 2019, Office 365

I have searched for this, seen same issue for many others spanning a few years, have not seen any time of tangible answer.

I certainly have Word installed, and there is no document to be open, as this has yet to work for me in the first place to have a document.

None of the templates work, same error – the document is open or I don’t have Word installed.

Sorry for my initial misunderstanding. Those Word templates are… obsolete. I never used them since about 8 years. Print output for eLearning is illogical in my mind, but I completely understand you need it in your situation. Export captions could be a possibility (if it works) but not completely the same. I use an InDesign template for the rare occasions someone requires a pdf output. That is all manually of course.

LMAO, exporting captions, same thing, but different wording.  Tells me I have to install Word to do it…Articulate 360, click one button, entire course content in an editable Word document in less than a minute.

Funny though, step by step instructions for doing this is in their current user guide, no mention of it actually not working.

Indeed, this ‘collaboration’ is not always working as expected since many years. Sometimes it is due to incompatibility between the version of Word and Captivate but not always. I learned to insist, to try with and without Word open to export the captions/notes. The problems are not consistent which is probably the reason why solving them is tough.

I just double-checked and exported without any problem, although it took quite a lot of time (have a powerful laptop). I do use Captivate version 11.5.5.553 and Office 365 (renamed now to Microsoft Office). Word version is 2106 (build 13801.20266).  I always run Captivate with ‘Run as Administrator’. I didn’t have Word open when exporting.

Thank you for the quick response.

Not exporting, trying to print to Word – keep getting that same error, no matter if word is open or closed.  Again, Office 365, Word File version is 16.0.1312721216.

Keeps telling me I don’t have Word installed.  Crazy frustrating.

What I am trying to do is take several courses and extract all the content so one of my developers can use it to rebuild in a different authoring tool – we have moved away from Captivate – only keep one license for these types of tasks.  I really want to avoid taking a gazillion screenshots.
