For some time, Video Demo hasn’t worked for me. What happens is that when I select Video Demo from the New Project Window, Captivate shuts down. No error message; it just stops running and closes down. Not a big deal for me because if I need to make a video of my desktop, I would likely use Camtasia anyway. That said, some viewers of my YouTube channel have asked for Video Demo related tutorials. I have to say it’s hard to be the Captivate Teacher without a Captivate feature working on my personal machine.
After ignoring it for months, I decided to troubleshoot the problem. After some trial and error, it seems that the problem is related to my external webcam, the Logitech BRIO. It did work with the Video Demo at one time, but if my webcam is connected to my PC when attempting to start Video Demo, Captivate shuts down. If I disconnect the webcam, Video Demo runs, and I can get to the initial capture screen. If I connect it while I have Video Demo running and attempt to select the BRIO as my webcam for Video Demo use, Captivate crashes once again.
I was hoping that another Adobe Captivate / Logitech BRIO user may have found a workaround or a solution to this problem
That’s an interesting problem. I haven’t encountered that issue myself, but it is something to watch out for as I am assuming that it may not be specific to your webcam and perhaps a bigger issue with external cams. We can only check out own tech, but as you have suggested, perhaps someone has found a work around.
Best of luck in finding the solution.
