Need tutor trainer for Captivate 2019 in Australia
Hi!
I’m new to Captivate and am finding it so very different to Articulate Storyline 360 of which I am somewhat of an advanced user.
I need to get up to speed on Captivate and finding the tutorials are bringing up many questions for me.
Is there anyone between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast who could tutor me for a few hours (may be on a regular basis) to answer questions and help me with my development?
Thank you,
Victoria
ROD WARD if you are interested in speaking to me, could you please contact me at victoria@learningstudio.com.au?
Sorry, Victoria, but Rod is rarely in this eLearning community, although he is always answering questions in the Adobe Captivate forum. Very convenient: he is awake when I’m sleeping and vice versa. You can send him a private message from the Adobe forums. InfoSemantics has also a website, which you can use to contact him. He is a great Captivate expert!
Be careful with posting your personal coordinates on a public forum as you just did.
It is up to you of course. I am not in the US, but in Europe (Belgium) and you are 8hrs ahead of me. If you want answers to your questions within one hour, that may be a problem. Ditto for online live sessions, at least if you want them between 9am and 5pm. If Rod is not interested (he develops a lot more than I do) you can find me also using my website or blogsite. Both are on my lilybiri domain, not difficult to find. My website has also more elaborate explanations about my view on training. I am using Adobe Connect for training, and for collaboration Teams.
Know that I never take on a job if I am not sure to be able to achieve it with success (no solution, no fee). Especially for training an in-take interview online (without commitment) is necessary to explore the skills and goals of the trainee.
I have seen many of your videos and read your blogs, but you are way too advanced for me. I just want to learn to use the product fairly simply. Maybe use a few variables (advanced actions). Your tutorials are too complex for a beginner to understand Lieve Weymeis
‘Leave it alone…’ my marketing friend would cry out. But as a born teacher, I feel deeply insulted and will give you a last answer. In college, in music high school, in my many workplace trainings I got maybe too much praise. One of them: you can teach anything to anyone. That is exaggerated.
After over 50,000 answers (+ unknown number here) on the Adobe forums you should know that those are not only ‘advanced’ topics. My blog is and was meant for intermediate users because there was no documentation when the first Captivate release added advanced actions. You judge my competence as consultant and trainer (what you were looking for) based on a blogger activity. I don’t know which ‘videos’ you are referring to because my YouTube channel was hacked. It is clear that you never looked at a ‘back to basic’ blog.
You are not an eLearning beginner, you are a beginner with Captivate. This is important when you ask questions, one of the things I would have inquired about in a take-in interview. Part of the respect needed in a relationship trainer-trainee. However prejudices can be a reason to damage a relationship.
You will find Rod Ward also too advanced. When I am looking for a craftsman, I will try to find clients to hear about the quality of her/his work. If it is plumber, occasionally working as an electrician, I will not judge his plumbing skills based on his work as an electrician. If you had asked me about a trainee client in Australia, you would have been able to hear comments.
Just FYI variables and advanced/shared actions are not necessary linked. That sentence tells me that this particular feature is indeed very new to you. BTW I do a workshop at the AEW 2021 about that particular topic. It was the unique topic and still is a main topic on my blog which has over 2,000,000 views so far.
End of the discussion. If you put ‘simple’ questions in this portal which are within my competences, I will answer them. No prejudice from my side, just the need to help Captivate users to use this wonderful tool in the best way.
Did you try to search on LinkedIn? Bit strange that it needs to be live for someone who is developing online training. Just kidding, had several trainees in Australia, but online of course. Sorry, I know only one expert Captivate developer in Australia: Rod Ward.
