Captivate issue: Blank slides when running slideshow

Dear all,

I’m having some issues with Captivate. I created a few simple slides with voice recording and a few animations. When I publish the presentation and run it, only the first slide appears, then it goes blank and I can only hear the recording for the rest of the slideshow. Would someone have a solution for this issue?

I have tried to change the actions for the slides, to no avail.

Why is first screen in project blank at start?  Can this be fixed/removed so that users can start with Title slide?

See attachment.

Thanks so much.

This is completely different from the original question.

Since quite a while you cannot have something playing automatically on a website, and HTML output is a website. That is the reason for the Play button you showed in the screenshot.

To make the experience more agreeable for the learner you can add a poster image. Everything is explained in this blog post:

Can you please provide some details?

  • Which exact version are you using? Check for the full version number under Help, About Captivate.
  • Which OS:  Windows or Mac,
  • Was this a responsive or a non-responsive project?
  • Which theme did you use? Was that theme updated to the version or is it an older custom theme?
  • I suspect you published to HTML5. The published folder will only be fully functional when you upload it to a webserver or a LMS (in case of a SCO). Locally viewing, using localhost will not always be functional.
  • The webserver or LMS needs to support JSON protocol.
