So the last update I had from Captivate came in 2019 and it currently shows I am up to date? No updates since 2019?
Something I did read in the communications around the date shift of eLearning world was (paraphrasing) that the delay makes it possible for everyone to see the future of captivate.
So, potentially that could signal a larger update? Of course there is no date linked for this. Just because it is being demoed doesn’t mean it will be available immediately.
We can only wait and see.
FYI: there was a conflict with another similar conference by Training Magazine.
Presently the most up-to-date for Windows is 11.5.5.553 and 11.5.5.676 was made available on macOS but due to some issues with macOS Big Sur, there was a patch that I believe updated the version number even further. Captivate 2019 update 5 was released in October of 2020 so it’s relatively new.
Yep, the Big Sur patch takes us up to 11.5.5.678. I won’t ask what happened to 677
I don’t have any inside information, but patches and bug fixes notwithstanding, Captivate seems due for an update. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a Captivate announcement at eLearning World. Which would probably mean the next major version update around the end of this year or early 2022. Again just speculation.
I really hope it does, and I hope that it’s a significant upgrade to the user interface. The last couple versions introduced some nice new features, but a lot of what makes Captivate seem clunky and outdated to me remained.
There was a big update to 11.5 and some patches later on. Can you check the full version number under Help, About Captivate? Are you on Mac or Windows?
