Am using the Software simulation and can not see the red screen recording boarder when i initiate the start.
I’ve tried running the utility cleaner and no luck
Im using a dual monitor and recording using the standard recording defaults 1024 628
So I’ve been able to figure this issue out. For anyone else that may have this same issue when re-installing captivate in a MAC and using multiple monitors and the red record boarder does not appear, try this:
- disconnect all external monitors from your MAC
- Launch Captivate and initiate a software simulation recording (even if it is of your desktop)
- Record a second or so then stop recording and close Captivate
- re-launch captivate again , start simulation recording (making sure you see the red record boarder) but then connect your external monitors
- Captivate will shift to display on your monitors and the red boarder will remain on the screen
hope this helps anyone who’s have the same issues
The problem is that Win and Mac users seem to speak another language. Although I master several languages, never understood the Mac language, not why Apple mostly screws up other application with each new release of the OS.
I don’t know which is the primary monitor, but suspect it is linked with the dual monitor setup.
Cleaning Preferences can be done by finding the subfolder ‘utils’ under the installation folder and run the CleanPreferencesMac file, while Captivate is closed.
Sorry to need some more details. Which exact version are you using? The most recent version for Windows is 11.5.5.553, for Mac it is a higher number if you are on Big Sur. I did read a complaint of a Mac user yesterday which had issues with your version even on Catalina.
Do you run Captivate with ‘Run as Administrator’ setup? Do you capture on the primary monitor? That is very important. I hope that the paths under Preferences, General Settings are all pointing to a not-networked folder.
Captivate 11.5.5.678 for MAC, using Big SUR
it was working fine previously but I had to re-install it now the red record area doesn’t show up.
How would I know if im running it as Administrator? I’ve Never had to do that.
all folders are not-networked but local to my MAC
LOL, the platforms we use do not equate to our level of intelligence and I truly appreciate your help with this issue I’m having.
So on a MAC I have 2 displays (the arrangement is right and left- see image attached) , when I launch captivate and initiate a simulation, it automatically selects to launch on the display in the left.
if I need to change that to the display on the right, I would have just dragged over the red screen record boarder but I don’t have that now and I don’t know how to change that.
BTW , when I record an application, I do see the red record boarder.
also, what do you mean by clearing preferences ? how do I do that?
thanks again for any help you can advise.
