Captivate trial and publishing

I am in a master’s course learning how to design OLE. One option given to us to use was Captivate. I downloaded the free trial and finally got my course completed. Now, I try to publish to my computer so that I can send it to others to get usability testing down and I get an error message stating compatibility issues. How do I publish the course so that others can view it and how to I get the url to submit to my professor?

Thanks in advance!

Here is a screenshot of the Publishing dialog box with the proper setup for a non-responsive project. Sorry, I added a screenshot but apparently it is not showing up at all. A functionality which is lost now? This has always worked perfectly…

It is easier for a responsive project with Fluid Boxes, because you can only publish to HTML5.

If your course is interactive, which I presume to be the case, you need to publish to HTML. Do not publish to SWF anymore because the support for the needed Flash Player in the browser has ended with 2020.

Since such a published course, which is folder with many subfolders is really like a website, you need to upload it to a webserver or a Learning Management system if you did activate Reporting and published it as a SCO. Do NOT send a zipped file to any one, because it is very probably that local playing will not have all the functionality. Once the published course is uploaded to a webserver, you only have to send an URL. For a non-reporting course that will be the URL ending with ‘index.html’.

You can look at AWS (Amazon) for a free webserver. It is also used here in the portal. For a LMS you can upload within limits to SCORM Cloud for free as well.

Hi.. In my view you have the below options

1) publish it as swf or HTML file and share the zip folder to your professor ( it might work but not 100% sure as HTML required supporting files on browser)

2) convert it to video and share the mp4 file

3) upload the HTML zip folder to internal Server or LMS system if Availble (best option)
