I have to guess, since you provide very little information. No version number, no type of project, no OS…
If you talk about previewing a NON-responsive project (indicated as Blank in the Welcome screen) you need to know that only the preview with F11, Preview HTML in Browser will use a temporary HTML output in a browser. All the other preview methods show a temporary SWF output which can be the cause of the error.
Another possibility is that you do have components which are not compatible with HTML output. Most of those items can be checked using the HTML Tracker.
As default browser, please avoid to use IE. Time to trash that outdated browser which will finally be the case when Windows 11 is released. If you are on Mac ignore this last paragraph.
