Is there a way to have text fly in with a mouse click?  In powerpoint, I can have bullets fly in from any direction when I click the mouse instead of having to use timing.  Can that be done in Captivate.  For example, let’s say I want the 2 bullets below to come in when I click the mouse but come in at different times (different mouse clicks).  Can I use a mouse click somehow to have them fly in?

1.  This is a test bullet

2.  This is also a test bullet

BTW the topic title is bit confusing. Captivate has a ‘Text Animation’ feature which was fine for SWF publishing but is not supported for HTML5 publishing.

You are talking about effects on objects, in this case from the category Motion path or Entrance.

This is really helpful! I’m exploring the possibility of getting Captivate (I know what I want to create) but still deciding if it’s the best solution for my goals – this provides a lot of clarity!

You are welcome, continue posting questions. A problem is – as you could read –  terminology. Some terms have a very specific meaning in Captivate, which may differ from their use in other tools. That is often the reason why I try to get needed information by posting more questions.

Hmm… had posted a long answer but it disappeared. I am trying again.

I explained a possible workflow in this Captivate tutorial:

http://blog.lilybiri.com/timeline-advanced-workflows

Idea is to stagger the bullets (each in its shape or caption) on the Timeline with their effects (Fly in).

You need to pause the slide after each effect has played. That can be done either by an Advanced action, or  – easier – by putting a click box over each bullet with a pausing point at the end of the effect. Those click boxes do not need any action (No action command).

Then create your Continue button, with the command ‘Continue’. Play head will be released and show the next flying in bullet at each click on that button.
