How to publish mobile friendly output ?
I need to know end to process.
Is LMS mandatorily required in the whole process to make content viewable on Mobiles ?
While publishing, I have done check mark on SCALABLE HTML Content. Is this only 1 enough step ?
Can same output work on both laptops & Mobile too ?
Please help
A LMS is not mandatory to view the content. The purpose of a LMS is to manage learner accounts in the first place, and to track their progress. That has nothing to do with being mobile friendly.
There are three workflows possible in Captivate to create courses that can be viewed on all devices. I will not expand on the question if the same content is pedagogically suitable to view both on a smartphone and a big screen however. Just the technical part:
- Create a non-responsive (blank) project and publish to HTML with Scalable HTML activated. Course will be resized on each device, everything is scaled down or up, but only landscape view is recommended. Layout is always the same.
- Create a responsive project using Fluid Boxes. Both landscape and portrait view will be possible. The layout will adapt to the size and screen position. You can indicate some objects as being optional. There are several limitations in this workflow, some objects cannot be used, you cannot stack in the same location etc…
- Create a responsive project using Breakpoint views. You can fully control the layout (more than with the second workflow) in up to 5 different screens. To be complete, in the most recent version 11.5 you can add some slides using Position Properties in a Fluid Boxes project to override limitations. Example: for an interactive or slide video.
An older post gives you some more details about those workflows:

To make mobile friendly output, create a responsive project, using fluid boxes. It’s a completely different way of creating a project.
As for the LMS, no one can mandate them to do anything, but their client institutions want to have mobile-friendly content, so they do that as best they can. It depends on the LMS. For their regular, desktop apps, different content will vary in how it appears on mobile.
But I think they all have phone app versions of their desktop applications, which of course is mobile friendly. The phone app for Canvas, for example, does a pretty good job of presenting what the desktop app does, though there are a few limitations.
My experience is that the best think to do is to see the live preview. See this video by Paul Wilson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6vmrlDEfhQ
