editing an imported ppt

Hello,

So we recently got Adobe Captivate and I imported a PPT that we had already created, to edit and add more. I can’t figure out how to edit existing text in the ppt though. Or is this not an option?

I have found the option of importing PPT slides to be completely useless. You can hardly do anything useful with them inside Captivate. If you want to leverage those PPT slides, it is beter if you go in a different direction, not Captivate. My opinion.

When importing it flattens the ppt slide to one image that cannot be edited.

Have to agree with the other post. I do not import ppt either. If I want to use the content from a ppt I recreate it.
I think it works out better personally as you can not do with ppt what you can with captivate.

You notice that the whole slide is one element in a Timeline of your project, it is not a group of entities as in other projects
And it requires you to go back to the PowerPoint program to edit and re-import again.
But also when you press right button above the slide and choose edit slide, the matter is quick and more logical to modify.

You cannot edit text in imported PPT slides. Each PPT slide is converted in sort of a movie slide mimicking eventual animations in the PPT. You don’t have access to the individual objects. That is one of the reasons I never use PPT to start an eLearning project in Captivate.  It can only be used to have a quick conversion to HTML, but without any more control.

Better approach is to unzip the PPT file, take out all the usable assets and import them to the Library of a new eLearning project. Recreate the project using those assets and you can use the PPT as a start for the Storyboard, although a presentation and real eLearning have a different goal.
