LMS Query – Captivate to Learndash

Hi All

When I preview any captivate project in HTML5 the click through speed to the next slides are instantaneous.

I experience lag issues, after exporting in XAPI format and uploading my projects to my LMS (Learndash), the clickthrough’s to the next slide are delayed by 1 or 2 seconds, this is further exacerbated when creating a quiz and having it report to an LRS, so that I can determine user pass or fail. The clickthrough’s to the next slides in this case are then delayed by 5 seconds plus.

Is this a common occurrence, or is it due to some settings or parameters I may be missing on my end?

I have found that the preview modes give you an idea of the final output but they are not very precise. I am not sure why, but I have often found that things look differently.

For a non-responsive project the only valid Preview method is F11, Preview HTML in Browser. Are you talking about that one?

When I have posted to different lms I have found decent instructions from the lms provider themselves. Not familiar with this one but potentially another resource to check.

I had faced the same problem when moving from one slide to another, especially when making questions
I noticed that the problem was solved by replacing the order jump to slide instead of continue .

I hope I helped you to find the solution

Your solution to replace the Success/Last Attempts commands by ‘Go to Next Slide’ may cause problems when coping with low bandwidth while using the default SCORM template which is sending data after each quiz slide. The reason of the waiting time after the submit button is the location of the pausing point on the quiz slide. If you have audio which has extended the slide duration, the part after the pausing point can become very long, which is the cause of the delay. A safer solution is to move the pausing point to the right, closer to the last frame but not completely at the last frame (which would lead to the same problems as the Go to Next slide). Too bad: this is only possible by dragging that point with the mouse, you cannot do it in the Timing Properties panel.

Whether this is due to the LMS or to Captivate, my recommendation would be to upload the course to SCORM Cloud for testing.

For the quiz slides: can you post a screenshot of the timeline of one of those quiz slides? What are the actions you specified for Success and Last Attempt?
