Title says it all really.  I want to record a video demo and Captivate just closes with no messages when I click on
New –> Video Demo.

Any ideas please?

I am having the same problem on 2019 release 11.5.5.553

I want to capture a window nothing from a webcam. I have tried it with multiple monitors (DPI-aware is ON) I Also tried it with just the primary laptop monitor. I found a fix regarding (SLCache folder) but that did not work either. The annoying thing was it was working 2 weeks ago, now if I select Video Demo it disappears from Task Bar. The only evidence is within the Event Viewer.

Do you have a Logitech webcam attached or had previously attached to this computer? It seems that once you connect a webcam from Logitech, specifically the BRIO for me, Captivate cannot record Video Demo. I reported this to Adobe over a year ago and they have not come back with a resolution.

Hmm interesting that a webcam app might be interfering with this, definitely worth a look.

Hi Dave,

Do you use a Logitech BRIO or other Logitech webcam? I haven’t been able to run Video Demo for well over a year. If this is the case, you might have the same issues that I’m experiencing. I worked with Adobe Technical Support for many months, only for them to give up. I gave up as well and started using Camtasia for all my screen recording content. I didn’t get an error message. When I selected Video Demo from the welcome screen and clicked on Create — >poof< Adobe Captivate simply shut down without warning. It seems that once you insert your USB cable connected to your Logitech webcam, the feature merely stops working. Unplugging your webcam doesn’t seem to help either. It’s as if once the driver is installed, the feature appears to be unavailable. I have reinstalled Windows from scratch, and it works until I add my webcam. You can try to get Adobe to work on this for you. Send them an email to captivatehelp@adobe.com and hopefully you get a better resolution than I did.

I use a Brio and don´t have problem with that, however I prefer to use OBS studio because once you learn how use comamnds you will have a lot more of flexibility and new options.

Can you check the exact version number you are using, please? You find it under Help, About Captivate.

Do you use a multiscreen setup? If yes, know that you need to capture on the primary monitor.  I heard that several users have issues with Video Demo, because of a webcam application. But since you didn’t get to the setup dialog box, this probably is not the case for you. Didn’t you get any warning or error message?
