Getting credit for watching a video

Hello,

I have a video (MOV) that I inserted in a slide using Captivate (the video converted after I inserted). For this project, I just want to have the learner play the video and get credit for doing so in our LMS. As a captivate file, I can publish as a SCORM 1.2 package, but is the best way to do this to put the video on Slide 1 and give credit when the learner visits Slide 2?  or is there a way to grant credit when the learner is finished watching the video?

We use SuccessFactors. No check for understanding necessary, no quiz. (though I could put in a very short and simple one but there’s got to be another way to do it).

Or you just can leave the video in one slide so when youre configuring the visualization percentage you can add it as as slide that needs to be seen.

If your file is just a video – can you simply upload the video to the LMS?

Not sure I see the need for Captivate here.

Won’t your LMS track that the video has been watched?

Unfortunately no, it has to be communicating content (AICC, Scorm etc.) if I want completion history. If I just upload the mp4 video it doesn’t send any status back to the LMS after launch.

Wow – OK

That would be a valid feature request for your LMS.

If you set the criteria for completion by “Slides Visited”, I guess I would suggest that you go ahead and create a single Text Entry Box and pose a question that would require a single word or number value to answer it. Make it so that you can only proceed with the correct answer.

The answer must be something not easily guessed so they cannot “hack” credit.

Seems forced and some may not like that but hey… in an actual classroom… guess who controls the remote? If you’re asking the software to verify – you gotta make sure they don’t hit play and then run out for some coffee.

You could add a Next button starting near the end of the video (preferable inserted as slide video, not as event video). Attach a score to that button, and include it in the Quiz. If that is what you mean by ‘credit’?
