I did a quick search for other discussions on this topic and didn’t see anything. Is it possible I missed something, yes, it is. But I didn’t see anything.
Anyway, I know it is early, and we don’t have out hands on it yet, but I was curious about what people think about Project Charm? Did you like what you saw? Are in intrigued? Or are you completely against what has been put out there?
Personally, I am excited to see this new version and get my hands on it. The tiny peek we received has intrigued me and energized me. While there are still unknowns and it will likely be months before we are able to use it, I am still looking forward to it.
Anyway, what do you think?
I just hope that they are not gonna refrain from timeline. I got used to it and I see a lot of advantages (though I understand why some people don’t like it). I also hope that access to JS and so called advanced actions will not be withdrawn. I just imagined, kind of, two layers, one for quick productions, and one for more advanced stuff, more time consuming but offering features beyond typical “power point”, slide based type of authoring software. The biggest improvement-needed area, most of the users would go along with me, is working with text. One of the Captivate’s weakest points.
I have just dipped my toes in the javascript pool, to make Captivate do what I want it to and to become a little smarter. Accessibility is a BIG thing in EU now and Captivate 2019 is just not cutting the mustard on all requirements. Responsive design is a UGH! as well in 2019.
I do love the power and versatility of advanced actions, so I hope they keep this around.
I can say, as someone who must prefers the interface of Articulate Storyline, I see it as a vast improvement over the old interface. I couldn’t really get into using Captivate because of how un-Adobe it was in look, feel, and functionality. You can pretty much tell they bought it and never really integrated it into the workflow as well as other Adobe applications, in my opinion.
I look forward to some of the ways that tedious tasks can be automated. Like make everything in the entire project run 3 minutes long for a max, instead of “timeline death march.” I like updating the core of the project from the other Adobe Products that are more modern. I was getting ready to take a deep dive on Captivate 2019 (tests, integration with Captivate Prime, workflow for large projects–I have one that is already 500+ slides so far….), but I am going to wait until Charm is out and my Adobe experts are ready to walk through the changes. We do not know that there are not more advanced features. All we know is what little Poojah showed us. It was a tiny little demo of workflow.
Daniel, the sign up was in the lobby for resources for eLearning World.
Stephanie, even if it all changes, much of it will remain the same. Just watching the demo, I can tell you that the pieces are all pretty much there. Timeline, film strip, stage, library etc. Some things will move. You’ll be fine.
I totally agree with you , with what I saw it does make a change to how we doing things.
I have spotted some discussion where people are unhappy that there wasn’t more advanced features but although I agree with them any change no matter how small is a benefit to us if it saves time. Wish I could find where to sign up for beta version
From what I saw in the demo, I don’t know if there will not be more advanced features included. I can’t fully say that from what I saw or not to be honest. It was a fairly quick demo that I think only really scratched the surface. Could I be wrong? Sure, that might be all there is, but at this point, I can’t say that for sure.
As for the beta, I did see some info in this Adobe Community chat (not the elearning Community) but I can’t tell you for sure that this method will work, however the person that posted is knowledgeable and trusted, so it probably does. Good luck.
