Can you Create Prerequisites in Captiviate
Hello
Please can someone let me know if is possible to create Prerequisites in Captiviate?
For example pass Elearning quiz 1 before you can see Elearning 2
Setting up Prerequisites is done in the LMS, so Prime can be the function for that, but Captivate does not have the ability to determine nor limit a user access, it is simply an authoring tool. As stated above, you can manage what the student can see via a pre-course evaluation of some sort, that will allow them to skip some of the slides, but there is nothing in place in Captivate to limit access to certain courses to certain to students. Basically the LMS can be the determining factor in allowing a potential student to access the course or not.
Your LMS can be setup to determine if the student has completed the required Prerequisites or not and either allow access to the course or deny them access, often with a simple message like “Sorry, you cannot take this course until you have completed course “X”.”
This is typically something that should be set up in the LMS, not in the courses deployed on the LMS. As it is a SCORM requirement to have only one quiz result in each course, it is not a good idea to try to push this into one long course.
You could restrict the learner to view some slides, based on a criterion like having passed a pretest or a quiz by setting up advanced/shared actions. However such a setup can only be useful for not too complicated, long courses.
