I received a SCORM package demo from a vendor that had an active expiration date to view. So, I uploaded the SCORM package to our organization’s LMS. After the SCORM package expired, I asked the vendor if it was possible to extend the expiration date, and they were able to do so without me replacing the file. They did it remotely. Does anyone know how to do so in Adobe Captivate?
Rather than doing it within Captivate, they may have been using Rustici Dispatch (or another similar service). Dispatch provides a SCORM zip file that can be uploaded to an LMS, but it doesn’t actually have all the files. It links to files on a server so you can track usage, set expirations, and update content remotely. What you described sounds like files run through Dispatch. Are the SCORM files smaller than you’d expect for a Captivate file?
As far as I know this isn’t something that can be done remotely with a standard Adobe Captivate project file. Normally this is done by setting the expiry date in the Preferences of your project. See the screen capture attached but the steps are to open your preferences and then…
- Select the option for Project Expiry Date in the Preferences > Project > Start and End category
- Click on the Calendar button
- Select a date for the project to expire and click OK
- Enter a project expiry message to display to the learners if they launch the course beyond the expiry date.
