Hello! I am working on a small R&D project where a video clip becomes interactive.
At certain points throughout the video I want to build in different types of interactions. For example:
- 00:00 – hotspot 1 (hover over)
- 00:10 – hotspot 2
- 00:30 – short MCQ
- 01:00 – hotspot 3
- 01:30 – pop up with YouTube video
Is it possible to pause the video at these points in order for the user to do the interactive element? If so, how?
I have looked online and came across these tutorials, but not 100% certain they are what I need:
Thanks in advance!

You’ll find a link to the first workflow in this one as well.
You pointed to my blog posts. Not a lot has been published about interactive video. My blog about pausing the timeline is a basic introduction to pausing, part of a sequence of blogs about the Timeline. I had another one specific for interactive video:

You talk about ‘hotspots’ which is a term used for 360° slides, maybe that is the reason why you added also the term ‘2D’? Quite a while ago – before interactive video was added to Captivate – I also have published some blog posts about mimicking hotspots for normal (2D) video. Since I need to avoid multiple links in one comment, will add them in another comment.
