Adobe Captivate 19 – Responsive Course Development

Hi, I’m new the responsive game. Watched the videos, and read the books and articles. But still have some questions.

1. Why does the optional option not always appear for objects/shapes?

2. How do I get the smart shapes to adjust the size with the text?

I’ve been given the directive to move all of our current courses to responsive. Need a fast and effective way to make this happen. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

FYI: the most recent version of Captivate is 11.8, not 19. Please check the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

Optional will only appear for non-interactive objects, where it doesn’t matter whether they show up or not. I suspect you are using the Fluid Boxes approach, not the Breakpoint views, for responsive projects. Most important is to know what is NOT possible in Fluid Boxes: you cannot use the main master slide, you cannot use objects timed for the rest of the project, for normal fluid boxes you cannot stack objects in the same location, same for additional states in a multistate object (static of interactive).

I don’t understand your shape question? Size of the shapes depend on the setup of your fluid boxes, the text inside the shape (do NEVER use text on top of a shape, see above) will adapt to your settings for the margins in the shape and will be reduced until the minimal font size is reached. Another tip: reduce that minimum font size from the default 14pt to 10 or 8pt.
