Dear All,
I have a task to “digitize” variety of traditional teaching materials at school and was successfully using the inbuilt tools on Moodle until the moment when I needed to create a simple “Complete table” activity. There are some possible workarounds on Moodle, but they are not good enough. So I am now trying out Captivate software, which is regarded as industry standard.
I have managed to set up a quiz and created “Complete table” question using Text Entry Boxes. Then I exported a SCORM package and imported it to Moodle. It functions overall. The students can access and complete the task. The data is saved, and I can look into the quiz report. However, results from the table are stored in “cmi.suspend_data” field, which supposedly provides space to store and retrieve data between learner sessions. Though the major problem is that the spaces between the words that the students enter in the table are filled with symbols, making it difficult to read.
Is there any better way to accomplish what I need to do?
Regards,
Ray
Scrolling Text Interaction can be a valid alternative for Text Entry Boxes. It is NOT an interactive object, which means that a score cannot be attached to it like with TEBs. However it has some clear advantages as well. I tried to explain them in:
https://blog.lilybiri.com/scrolling-text-interaction-to-replace-text-entry-box
Thank you for sharing this useful example! I have managed to create a similar interaction with TEBs. I will show the details in a reply to the other post. What I am concerned with at the moment is the ability to conveniently review and mark the answers once the material is uploaded to LMS and students have completed the quiz.
Not sure to understand the situation well. How did you get the entered text in your ‘Complete Table’. If I could see some screenshots, it may help.
Text Entry Boxes are associated with variables. Did you use them? You may have a look at this blog post, which is explaining the basics of Text Entry Boxes:

Because Text Entry Boxes are not really meant to enter sentences (which I suspect you have), you may have a look at another blog, where I explain how to use an alternative: Scrolling Text Interaction. To avoid the need for moderation (and delay in this answer) I will post that other link in a new comment.
