Template Question
(2)

Hi there

So here is what I would like to do.  My firm is doing software training and we’d like to have a picture in picture walking users thru steps with the PIP always showing.  How could I create a template where the left side of the screen top to bottom is a spot to always show the PIP.  The right side of the screen is the content showing mouse clicks etc.

Thoughts?

Allen

Forgot to tell you: do not use a ‘template’ file which is a cptl file. They are buggy. You’ll learn in that blog that it is always necessary to rescale the software simulation. But you can create a theme and preferences, and add instructions for the rescaling, especially the mathematical calculations should be done only once to have a project size which is appropriate.

Captivate uses the Blank master slide when you create a software simulation. The blank background is replaced by captured backgrounds (visible in the Project Library) and those will always fill up the complete slide.

I created a blog post to explain how you can extend the canvas to have space available to add objects. You could have an animation or a video in that space. Have them looping and timed for the rest of the project. It was not clear to me what you would use for the PIP: animation (like OAM or animated GIF) or a real video. Have a look at this post:
