Hi, I have a new laptop – all my audio now has white noise in the background I can’t get rid of. I’ve checked and rechecked all my settings – they mirror my previous laptop/Captivate settings.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot and eliminate the white noise in your audio:
- Update your audio drivers: Make sure you have the most recent drivers for your audio hardware. You can check for updates on the manufacturer’s website.
- Check for interference: Make sure there are no other devices nearby that may be causing interference, such as a wireless router or a cordless phone.
- Check for software conflicts: Make sure that no other program or service conflicts with your audio settings. Try disabling any unnecessary programs or services to see if that helps.
- Adjust the audio settings in your operating system: Ensure that your audio settings are configured correctly and that the correct device is selected as the default audio device.
- Try a different audio device: If you have a built-in microphone or speakers, try using a different audio device, such as a headset or external speakers.
- Check the hardware: If none of the above steps solve the problem, the issue may be with the hardware. You may need to contact the manufacturer for help or consider getting it repaired.
Please, does this happen only in Captivate? Did you try any other audio tool to capture audio with the same result? Reason for all my questions is that introduction of noise when recording audio is seldom due to the tool. Environment, micro and its calibration…
Is the audio driver updated to its most recent version? You may need to update your Captivate audio settings, did you do a new Calibration? Are you capturing audio in the same environment, and which micro do you use?
What did you try to get rid of the white noise? Personally I always use the roundtripping with Audition to get rid of eventual noise, but if you don’t have Audition same can be done with Audacity or another free audio editor.
