Recently I upgraded my Captivate version and learned that the new version no longer supports the “preview next 5 slides” feature due to flash ending. This is really interfering with my workflow-it is very inconvenient to have to wait to preview an entire project and then navigate to the one or two slides that I am working on. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
I suspect you are talking about version 11.8.1. In that version a lot of outdated SWF features were taken out.
One of them were under the Preview button for non-responsive projects. All Preview methods in previous versions were using temporary SWF output, with the exception of F11, Preview HTML in Browser and the preview in Scorm Cloud. That made those preview methods all but trustworthy since the SWF output can be very different from the HTML output which you use now.
I understand that this is frustrating, there has not be a replacement for those Preview methods (which exist in responsive projects). I can just offer a workaround if you want to check specific slides in a long project: activate the Table of Contents (Overlay) with navigation by TOC allowed. You will still have to wait until the full projects has been loading with F11 (Preview Project is exactly the same now as Preview HTML in Browser) but than you’ll be able to navigate to any slide. The Edit button to allow direct editing of the slide in Preview is missing?
