Hey there! With everyone talking about ChatGPT, I too tried it myself the other day. The results were quite impressive I must say. Did use it to generate content and strategies for one of my e-learning project. Was just wondering though, are there any risks or considerations that I need to be aware of while using it, especially from the plagiarism point of view. Please feel free to pitch in with your responses based on your experience with the tool.
Hey Elina. Jumping into it a bit late. But it is the topic of today. I have been using AI tools while working on e-learning projects and they never failed to amaze me. With generative AI you mostly land up with original content but its good to run your own test on plagiarism with checker softwares. I use a paid version of Grammarly to run the checks.
I somewhere agree to Lieve… Even if ChatGPT and other AI tools are trained to provide outputs that resemble those of humans, their results might not always be precise, pertinent, or suitable for your e-learning project. I advise looking over the created content for learning objectives.
Plagiarism will always be around, the ethical attitude of many has decreased a lot in my lifetime, could point you to many examples stolen from me. Same with ChatGPT, I see when asking some advanced Captivate questions t (ChatGPT4 under Bing) often my blog is amongst them. It often feels bitter, but I got used to it. It is more saddening to me that ethics get lost, and that some people get degrees and titles based on stolen content. How can you feel proud about that?
You may be delighted about the results, but that is not my personal experience. If such a tool like ChatGPT can ‘help’ you to find some information, to fill in some memory gaps and save time that is fine. But I will always feel better when my personal part in anything remains more important than those helpful bits. I hope you understand what I want to convey.
