Cp nav buttons appear on start screen
Whenever I use Cp’s navigation in a project (overlay or not), they appear on the Start Screen. See screen shot. – orange nav buttons at the bottom.
Anyone know how I might remove them from this screen entirely?

A simple answer, which you will not like: you cannot hide the playbar from the startup screen. Personally I rarely use the playbar because I prefer creating custom navigation which will not appear of course in this screen.
Moreover you could make the experience better by using a poster image and hide that ugly arrow and replace it by a custom part in the poster image. The interactive reigion (horizontally and vertically centered) remains and can be used. More information in this blog post:
