Publishing as MP4
(8)

I have been using Captivate for years, but recently got a new computer and my work updated me to the latest version. Our primary use for Captivate requires us to publish as MP4, but I can’t find that option. Is that no longer an option with the new Captivate?

Good day!  Would this explanation be the same as to why we cannot publish as in xAPI?

Hi wickerd37228957 ,

Thank you for your query.

You can select xAPI LMS standard in new Adobe Captivate (v12) from Edit->Preferences->Quizzing->Reporting. Please find attached screenshot for reference.

That is very logical since version 12 only creates responsive projects. A static, non interactive MP4 needs a non-responsive project to start with.

Yes, you can still publish as MP4 in the latest version of Captivate. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your project.
  2. Go to the “Publish” menu.
  3. Select “Publish to Computer.”
  4. Choose “Video (MP4)” format.
  5. Configure your settings.
  6. Click “Publish.”

If you can’t find the MP4 option, ensure Captivate is up-to-date. For detailed help, check Adobe’s user guide or support.

Please do NOT give wrong information. Most recent version 12 has no way to create nor publish a non-responsive project. That is necessary to be able to publish to MP4, passive video. Your information is outdated and only valuable for previoius versions of Captivate. I don’t understand why moderation allows that type of wrong answers or inclusion of spam links like in another of your comments.

Hi alexb72117075

Thank you for your question.

We’d also like to thank Lieve Weymeis for sharing the correct answer.

Laurinha178   We also wanted to add that currently publishing to MP4 feature is not available with the new version of Adobe Captivate 12.3.0. In case you are looking to use publish to MP4 option, I would recommend using Adobe Captivate classic. You can also drop us an e-mail on tcssup@adobe.com, we will align someone to check your issue on priority. We hope this information addresses your needs.

Feel free to reply if you have any more questions.

The ‘new’ version is missing a lot of features, which you have in the version Captivate Classic (11.8.2).  Publishing to MP4 is one of them. Main reason is that the new version can only create responsive projects, and publishing to mp4 needs a non-responsive project.

You are entitle to use Captivate Classic along with the new version on the same license, sort of compensation for the still missing features in version 12. I recommend you to install this version and you’ll have the possibility to create non-responsive projects with publishing to MP4 back in that version.
