In Adobe Learning Manager, managing mandatory compliance courses, learning paths, and certifications can sometimes present unique challenges, especially when learners need to complete individual courses within a larger learning structure. Here’s a detailed guide on how to handle such scenarios effectively.

Use Case: Marking Individual Course Completions

Scenario

When courses are part of a Learning Path or Certification, and a learner fails to complete a particular course, or if an admin needs to manually mark the learner’s completion for an individual course within the Learning Path or Certification, specific steps need to be followed. Generally, learners enrolled in a course via a Learning Path or Certification are only shown in the “Learners” section of the higher-order learning object (LO) and not at the course level. This means you need to manage their progress and completion within the context of the Learning Path or Certification.

Steps to Mark Completion for an Individual Course

Here’s how you can mark completion for an individual course within a Learning Path or Certification:

  1. Log in as an Admin.
  2. Open the respective Learning Path or Certification where the course is included.
  3. Go to the Learners tab within the Learning Path or Certification.
  4. This tab lists all learners enrolled in the higher-order LO.
  5. Choose the specific instance where the learner is enrolled. This is important to ensure you are marking the correct enrollment.
  6. Within the selected instance, navigate to the individual course that needs completion marking.
  7. Select the learner you need to mark as completed for that specific course.
  8. Use the provided options to mark the learner’s completion of the course.

Learner enrollments are always shown in the higher-order LOs (Learning Path or Certification). Therefore, to manage individual course completions, you need to operate within these higher-order structures.

Note that you cannot see the progress under the Learning Path for individual courses.

Verifying Completion

To ensure that the learner has indeed completed the required courses within the Learning Path or Certification, you can verify their progress in a couple of ways:

  • Learner Transcript:
    • Check the learner’s transcript for a record of completed courses.
  • Impersonate User:
    • Impersonate the learner to view their progress and completion status directly.

Managing individual course completions within Learning Paths and Certifications in Adobe Learning Manager requires understanding the structure of higher-order learning objects and following specific steps to ensure accurate completion records. By navigating through the Learning Path or Certification and marking completions at the course level, administrators can maintain accurate compliance and training records.
