Need to reset a simulator slide to reactivate the Click box

Hello,

I’m working on Captivate version 12.3.012, creating an LMS with simulator slides that include Click box elements. When I upload the content in SCORM 1.2 format, the users occasionally need to revisit a slide and repeat an action, such as clicking a specific Click box. However, the program interprets these clicks as completed events, making it impossible to repeat them. Despite recent efforts to find a solution, I haven’t been able to resolve this issue or find an alternative workaround for this Captivate version. Could you please advise on what I can do?

WHAT!!! Sorry for my shouting, but this is making me lose my temper really.

The software simulation in the new version is just trying to mimick the software simulation workflow which exists in the Classic version since two decades, but has some serious issues. Some of them have been solved in a recent patch. But the New version stumbles over the fact that the sims are in essence NON-responsive, and that in the New project Text Entry Boxes and Click boxes are non-existent, they only exist in the mimicked software simulation. I don’t see really why you found that in the user manual for Classic Captivate, because that would be a very serious TYPO. I have created software simulations, mostly in Training/Assessment mode (using Video Demo instead of demo mode).  The default workflow gives you a good start, but you need to be able to tweak it a lot to convert the result to a real training for software. Please have a look at this example which I posted a couple of years ago for an assessment course which was used partially to select intermediate Captivate users. It is just impossible to create such a course in the New version, whatever all the marketing people claim. It is a non-responsive course:

Please, listen to my recommendation: use Captivate Classic for software simulations until the new version has the same functionalities and allows to create non-responsive projects. You may check my blog for posts around simulations, this blog was posted here in the community however. Just google (or use a ChatGPT bot) to find me under my nickname Lilybiri.

The only way to be able to use the ‘outdated’ click boxes (they are no longer available in normal projects in your version) is to use a simulation. May I suggest to avoid using simulations in your version, and use Captivate Classic for that purpose? It has a lot less limitations for sims, and the workflow is almost identical, because those project in 12.3 just mimick the original workflow in all previous versions.

I suppose you are using scored click boxes, probably from the Assessment or Training mode?  Do you need to transmit the score to a LMS?

Thank you for your response. We chose this version specifically because the other one lacks the simulation software option, as noted on the Adobe page https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/captivate/captivate-classic.html. This feature is essential for us to demonstrate and train users on a program. Based on what you’ve said, is there no solution for this bug?
