Problem Statement:
All Manager users lost their manager role/manager name is removed for all most all user.

Brief Description:
There are cases where customer sees that some of their users who had a Manager role have lost it. They are not sure how it happened.
This article explains in which case the Manager role is removed for the user.
In ALM, the Manager role is auto assigned to the users if he or she gets any reportees/ report. ie..if the user “X” is marked as Manager for employee “Y”, then the system auto-assigns the Manager role to the User “X”.
The system auto removes the manager role for a user, when he/she no longer has any reportees.
It is not possible to remove or assign the manager role for an user manually.
Here are few possibilities where an ALM admin users sees that some of their users who had a Manager role have lost it.
- Someone else is marked as Manager for their reportees now. This is the root cause of the issue in most cases.
- In the latest CSV uploaded, for all their reportees, the value for Manager field is marked as “Root”. We come across this scenario in one of our customers recently. However, this is a very rare scenario. In ALM, the Root users will not have manager or report to any one.
