It is always important to tell which exact version you are using. You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate. From the way your question is formulated, I suspect you are very new to Captivate and probably are using the new version 12.3?

You have created a ‘raw’ project in the editing environment which needs a licensed Captivate version.

To allow learners to access the course you need to take these steps:

  • Publish the course to HTML5. That is the only option for the new version. If you are working with a former version, let me know and I can tell you about the only exception possible in previous versions.
  • Such a published course is similar to a (very interactive) website. It needs to be uploaded to either a webserver or a Learning Management System (LMS). The second scenario is used if you have such a LMS available and it will take care of account management and learning tracking.
  • Once the upload has been done, you can provide an URL to the learners. Which URL depends on which scenario you used. In my blog I embed often a published example course, and it has been uploaded to a subdomain or another webserver. Same here in the community portal when you access an example project.
