Not a bug, captivate classic and captivate 12 are two separate products, and the file types do not talk to each other.

Currently, the Captivate files with .cptx file format cannot be opened with new Adobe Captivate (v12) as it works on a different file format (.cpt). Both the versions have been developed on two different technology stacks and hence, the file types are different. However, Captivate subscription provides access to both versions, and user can download new Adobe Captivate or Adobe Captivate Classic, based on their requirement, using this URL: https://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/vipdownload.html.

Our team is also working on a solution to enable quick and easy migration of older projects to the new Adobe Captivate. While we are at it, we will continue to support Adobe Captivate Classic.
