The power of community breaks down all barriers to learning. Community is all about learning from each other while sharing tips and best practices related to e-learning. And what makes this process engaging and interesting is earning incentives every time you contribute something to the community. Every contribution is significant and goes a long way in establishing your creds as an e-learning expert, ready to take on the next challenge. From questions to blogs, testimonials to webinars, your contribution also helps your fellow e-learning professionals become better at their job.
Each level you attain, reinforces your position as a community expert and the transition to a community leader or influencer depends on the journey from a Wizard to Legend. The incentives* you earn at each level strongly encourage you to move on to the next level.
The sections below describe how the points are attained and address frequently asked questions regarding levels.

Performing various activities on eLearning community (like answering questions, writing blogs/articles etc.) give you an opportunity to score points and enhance your level as a Product expert. This is how it works: You start at “Newbie” Level with 0 points. From this point onwards till one calendar year (i.e. 365 days) you should try to contribute and move up the levels upon achieving their respective thresholds.
You will score 'Current points' as you participate in different activities throughout the year (refer: Score Information). Build your 'Current points' to cross these threshold values and move up the levels.
Current points:
Every year, you get 365 days to contribute, move up the different badge levels and win exciting rewards based on your ‘Current points’. The 365 days are always counted from your date of joining the community (you can find the date on your profile page). At the end of every 365 days, you retain the highest badge level you have achieved. However, your ‘Current points’ are revised in the following manner:
Revised current points = [Total Current points] - [The Current level threshold points]
For example, in Year 1 you attain ‘Master’ level with 600 points. At the start of Year 2, your ‘Current points’ will be revised to 600 – 500 = 100 points. Your badge level will remain ‘Master’. If you wish to upgrade to the next badge level (Wizard), you will need to earn 1000 – 100 = 900 points in Year 2.
Additionally, your Current Points are also revised using the same formula if you redeem your points to win rewards/incentives. The incentives can be collected based on the Current points only, and not the badge level. Please reach out to elcommunity1@adobe.com to redeem your points.
Current level and Badge level:
Your profile page will always show your “Badge level”. Your badge level will continue to be the highest badge level you achieve in any given year. Badge level is reset to ‘Newbie’ if and only if your account remains inactive for 5 consecutive years.
Your ‘Current level’ is not mentioned in your profile page. It is used by the community leaderboard to calculate and revise your ‘Current points’ at the end of each 365 days or whenever you redeem your points to get incentives
Lifetime points:
As the name suggests, it’s the total points you’ve accumulated since the day you joined. The incentives are calculated based on your current points.
If I am a Master, but I don’t score more than 50 points in a year, what happens to my level?
You retain the ‘Master’ badge, but you can’t claim Master level incentives since your current points are below 500.
If I am a Master, but attain more than 50, but less than 150 points in a year, what happens to my level?
You retain the ‘Master’ badge but you’re only eligible for Explorer level incentives.
If I am a Master, but attain more than 150, but less than 500 points in a year, what happens to my level?
You retain the ‘Master’ badge but you’re only eligible for Guide level incentives.
If I am a Wizard and I gain more than 1000 points in a year, what happens then?
You remain a Wizard. The new points get added to your existing points.
If I am a Legend and I gain more than 5000 points in a year, what happens then?
You remain a Legend. The new points get added to your existing points.
How many points do I get if I join the portal?
As a new user, you start at zero and you become a Newbie.
How much points should I score in a calendar year to maintain my current level, if I am unable to attain the next level’s threshold points?
You will retain your badge level. However, at the start of the next year your ‘Current points’ will be reset to total current points earned minus the current level threshold points. For example: You joined on 12 April 2020, and you earned 550 points till 12 April 2021. On 13 April 2021, your points will be reset to 550 - 500 = 50 points.
What happens if I am at 30 points and fail to reach the next level?
If you are unable to achieve 50 points (Explorer level threshold) in 365 days, on the 366th day, you shall remain a Newbie and your points will be reset to 0.
If I gain 50 points in a calendar year, but do not contribute to the community, will my points get deducted?
No. In this case, you shall remain an Explorer till the end of the calendar year.
Suppose I scored 900 points till the last week of the year, and I don’t have time to reach the next level, will I retain some of my points for next year?
Year 1 (365 days starting from the day you join the community)
- With 900 points, you will achieve the ‘Master’ level badge
- You can contact elcommunity1@adobe.com to redeem you Master level incentives before the start of year 2.
Year 2
- You will continue to retain the ‘Master’ badge.
- Your ‘Current points’ will be reset to 900 – 500 (i.e., Master level threshold points) = 400 points
- You would need to score 100 more points to gain Master level incentives again or score 600 more points to reach the Wizard level.
Year 3
- You will continue to retain the ‘Master’ badge if you don’t make it to Wizard level in Year 2.
- If you haven’t contributed anything in Year 2 then your points will be reset again at the start of Year 3.
- Reset here will be calculated as 400 – 150 (i.e., Guide level threshold points) = 250 points at the start of Year 3.
What will happen if my account stays inactive for 5 years?
Current level threshold points will be deducted from your ‘Current points’ balance yearly. If your account remains inactive for 5 consecutive years, then your badge level will be reset to Newbie.
I have 1500 points and I am a Wizard. Can I redeem Master level points (500 points) 3 times?
No. You can redeem your ‘Current points’ as per your ‘Current level’ only. With 1500 points, your current level will be Wizard. You can redeem the points for Wizard level only (1000 points).
How many times can I redeem my points in a year?
You can redeem your points maximum of 2 times in a year.
