Can’t get your Text-to-speech installed?…Having issues previewing Captivate 3 content?..Rick Stone, one of the most active and longest serving members on our Captivate Forum has created a list of Frequently Encountered Issues in Captivate that addresses these questions and more. It is a great asset for anyone new to Captivate- definitely the place I would turn to before calling support, or the local Captivate expert. I’m certain these are collated based on the key issues he has encountered over the many years spent manning the Captivate forums. The solutions for these Frequently Encountered Issues are supplemented by Captivate movies or blog posts explaining the same.

Help! I’m developing a course in Captivate 4 that has a menu slide near the front. I have simple buttons, up to 10 on the menu, with each button going to a tppic in the Captivate. At the end of each section, the movie refeeds back through the menu, checking off completed sections using variables. For whatever reason, the buttons are not working, and I’ve checked/rechecked the links and labels. In addition, one module will no longer even generate the .swf! These are somewhat large files, and the earlier modules didn’t give me any fits. I created a reusable template, and it got progressively worse with each module, although each was stored in a different folder. Is there some kind of system file that could be messed up? Please reply, as I’m at my deadline!
I created a course in Captivate 4 recently and added a handful of quiz questions. The course started as a PowerPoint and was approx 45 slides long. I downloaded into our company LMS and assigned the course to everyone in a 200 person department to take within 4 weeks. So far just over half have done it and about 75% have gone through and completed no problem, the remaining 25% are either still in progress or have not been able to click on the quiz question answers. I cannot imagine why some can’t do it and most can – have been working with IT and they haven’t come up with it yet, but am hesitant to put anything else out till I know what’s up. Have you ever seen this before and do you know what it could be?
Hi,I’ve a weird problem while using Captivate 4’s TOC feature. I’ve few standalone CP generated SWF files (they have separate TOCs) which are called in a flash course. This flash course has several pages; in turn these pages have a dedicated button on each page (these buttons are not linked to each other and they’re separate) to call these CP generated SWFs (separately) and will load them in a common movie clip (one at a time). The button has an AS (Action Script) code that goes multiple levels to call this CP generated SWF.Now, my problem is, when I click a particular button to open a particular CP generated SWF, I see the TOC is corrupt; the other CP generated SWF’s TOC items appear in this along with few of this file’s TOC items.Example:I have 2 CP generated SWF files: Topic1.swf (this file has a TOC – Slide 1, Slide 2, and Slide 3) and Topic2.swf (this file has a TOC – Page 1, Page 2, and Page 3). As I said before, I’ve two different buttons in my flash-based course that calls these 2 CP generated files (Topic1.swf and Topic2.swf) When I click a button, it loads the correct CP generated SWF, but the TOC has few items from the second CP generated SWF’s TOC TOC for first CP generated SWF (in runtime – while launching from the course) – The TOC is wrong as it has few TOC items from other CP generated SWFs:Page 1Page 2Slide 1TOC for first CP generated SWF (while opening the SWF in a standalone mode) – This is the correct TOC:Slide 1Slide 2Slide 3I would really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.Ali Ahamed
Is their anyway to suppress Captivate from opening the email client and sending the test results. The results are not securely sent to the test givers! I am fairly new to using captivate, but I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find a workaround. Any help would be appreciated.
am trying to add audio to my projects – but each time I play back – the audio is scrambled. I’ve tried text to speech and recorded my own both with the same hiccups. I ran the Captivate Updates and still have miscues. I can play the individual slides just fine – but they’re not coming together correctly.Suggestions?
