Issue:
Even if the reporting option is set to ‘Percentage’, Adobe Captivate 5 reports ‘Scores’ to LMS. For example, if 35 questions out of 70 were answered correctly by an elearner, Adobe Captivate reports 35 instead of 50%.
To resolve this issue, install the latest patch from Adobe. This patch is currently for Windows only.
Steps to install the patch:
- Download the CPSWFGenerator.zip and unzip the contents.
- Close Adobe Captivate 5
- Open the Adobe Captivate 5 installation folder.
- Locate the file CPSWFGenerator.dll and rename it to CPSWFGenerator.dll.old.
- Copy and paste the “CPSWFGenerator.dll” file, which is downloaded earlier, into the Adobe Captivate 5 installation folder.
- Re-launch Adobe Captivate 5 and re-publish the course.
Does anyone know if this same patch is required for v5.5 – or was it corrected for that release?
also, is there a fix for mac?
I am not sure if my problem is the same as this one, but this post is the closest I can find.
My issue is the Max Score is listed at 101 on the results page. Where is that assigned? The LMS experts at my company say it can not be over a 100 and my project has 101 as the max score.
I have 9 questions, each question is worth 10 points. so, mathmatically, a mac score of 101 is impossible.
On the stage and in the filmstrip, there are 9 quiz slides, however when published, the number listed on the bottom left hand corner can vary from 1 of 3, 1 of 9, 6 of 20, etc.
This is all on the same slide. I am not sure if that is part of the issue or another one altogether,However that also needs to be fixed.
I do not know if it is something i did or if the patch described will help me.
i am fairly new to Cp, so I am assuming the issue is the user!!!!

Patty, I suspect we can all relate to your frustration. Working with LMS’ is one of the most difficult things to do. There is a huge range of ways that each LMS reports / works with the data. Captivate reports everything to your LMS, but sometimes its easy to lose track of what is getting reported.
I suspect that the 01 extra point is coming from a click box or similar interaction which defaulted to 1 point or for which you accidentally assigned it to ‘report’ the results (Under Tracking in the Properties inspector – while the offending object is selected.) Now if you have Cp set up to report Raw Scores, rather than Percentages – the max score would report the total number of points. You can adjust that in the Quiz Settings Dialog (Quiz: Quiz Preferences). Midway down that page you’ll find an option that says “Report to LMS” then buttons for Percent or Raw.
The 1 of 3 etc. looks unusual. If changing to percent reporting doesn’t resolve the issue, you might want to report it to wish-captivate@macromedia.com. They’ll probably ask to see your project.
unfortunately i believe the issue is tied to the software simulation feature.
i just created a new project with quizzes, the moment i add training software simulations, the file does not understand the difference between an assesment and an training simulation.
i am inserting the recording slide as training, i even started a new project as training thinking that would help, it did not.
this is really messing up the quiz results and the scoring. the user sees they have 9 out of 9 correct and they still receive a score of 45% or what ever it is.
when published, the quiz slides show different _ of _ with the numbering. on the stage, everything is correct. if i take out the practice slides, i have no probelms.
i have already contacted the “wish” team. tvish got back to me early yesterday, i responded and uploaded my file to adobe.com late in the day. as of yet, no solution.
it appears the training simulation is corrupting not only the results, but the quiz numbering.
please help, i am on a major deadline!

Patch work for me and fixed a huge problem for our company.
Why won’t you release this as a official patch though AIR (Help > Update)? Why do you refuse to patch Captivate?
Does this affect AICC or just SCORM?
After doing some testing, I found that the updated DLL corrects the percent scoring mechanism for all reporting methodologies, including SCORM, AICC, and email.

I have Captivate 5 installed but cannot find this .dll file to replace. Any searchs did not bring up a single .dll file.
There is mention of SCORM 1.2 in step 6 of the installation instructions above. Does this issue only affect publishing to SCORM 1.2? What about SCORM 2004?
