This blog post provides information on troubleshooting problems with installing Adobe Captivate 5.0 patch.

You have updated the index.html file in the tutorials folder to fix tutorial issues earlier and patch installation fails.

1. Roll back to the old version of index.html (located at <Installation_folder>/CP_Tutorials/). If you do not have an old version of the index.html file, download it from this link.
2. Install the patch again.

Patch installation fails and Captivate doesn’t launch.

1. Uninstall Captivate.
2. Install Captivate 5 (build 596) again using the Captivate 5 installer.
3. Install the patch and check if Captivate launches. If Captivate still doesn’t launch, send us the installation logs as explained at the end of this post.

Patch installation fails from AAM updater.

Download and install the patch manually from http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html

Patch installation failure:

The latest log file with the prefix “Adobe Captivate 5.0.1″ at:
Windows XP & 7:  <Drive>:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeInstallers
MAC: / Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers
Note: While sending these log files, remove the extension (.gz) as files with this extension may get marked as spam.
