Topic: The Coolest Adobe Captivate Tips on the Planet

Description: Too many Adobe Captivate features are hidden and not well known. In this session, Joe Ganci, President at eLearning Joe, will show you many of the Captivate features you need to make the most of this powerful tool. Why is it important to know about those features? Using the layers of sophistication found in some of Captivate’s features means you will save a lot of time, deliver more engaging and personalized learning, and be able to tap into external resources more easily. Joe will also show you some of the Captivate features you need to make the most of this powerful tool, including how combining the use of variables, Advanced Actions, and effects will result in a useful example that you couldn’t create otherwise.

Dr. Jaisingh: HELP! I follow your training and met you and Joe at Elearning this past March. I am using Captivate 7 and my client has a JoomlaLMS. We cannot get the course to complete on their LMS. I have searched tried all the settings for the Quiz preferences. The LMS guy cannot get it to work. Any suggestions. There appears to be a KNOWN problem with Joomla LMS and Captivate. Is there anything we can do. have spent months on this project and want to get paid!!!

Hi, I am running into issues setting up multiple Text Entry Buttons. I have slide setup where users are asked to input multiple values into a spreadsheet. It works fine with one TEB but one I start adding more, it falls apart. I suspect it could solved with Advanced actions but I am not sure how to do it . I am in Captivate 7. Any suggestions.

Maybe it’s just me, but where the heck is the link to the recording? Never mind, after searching, I saw it. Not intuitive. I expected a “play” icon or thumbnail at the very least. I totally missed the Recording link above.

Hi,

I have been going through the Photoshop software simulation/demo that is posted on Adobe’s website and I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can do this for
a shell command environment. I am trying to setup a simulation where users need to enter command lines in actual operating system. Would this be done in the same way? I can quite wrap my head around how this would be done.

Hi,
The department I work for develops training for IT certification. I have been doing drag and drop, matching and some fill in the blank type of exercises using Captivate. They work great. One thing I am looking to is create a simulating coding exercise. I am not sure of the best way to do this in Captivate. Is it possible? What is the best way?

Regarding this recording, “The Coolest Adobe Captivate Tips on the Planet”, at 13:12, Joe’s audio cuts out and he can no longer be heard. Lilbiri’s audio continues to work fine. She can be heard speaking to Joe a few minutes after his audio disappears.

When Joe’s narration stops, the session loses all of its value. It’s very frustrating.

Hi, the recording looks good to me and i can hear Joe throughout the recording. He got disconnected for a minute or two but then you can hear him again. Can you please let me know at what point you lose the audio and i’ll get it checked. Also, not sure how you were able to hear Lilibiri, i guess you meant to say that you could hear me 😉

Hi Pooja. I’m having the same problem. Joe cuts out at 13:12, non sound at all, you come on brielfy talking about the mouse pointer at about 15:25, then nothing again until around 21:25 when you come on again. Joe comes back again at 34:54. I tried this on two computers with the same results.

Yes, i can see the problem in the recording link. Unfortunately, due to some technical error, the audio is not recorded for that portion. I will see if it can be recovered.

Was this ever fixed? It’s April, 2015, and I’ve just discovered this recording. Very helpful, but disappointed that the audio cuts out.

Hi,

I am novice user of Captivate. Currently, I am working on
Captivate 5.5. It would help if any expert out there could help me with the
following:

1. Is Russian language is supported in Captivate 5.5? I tried typing out some text in Russian on a slide; the content shows us just fine in the preview mode. But, I would like to update the tools tips in the Skin Editor and the TOC as well. My guess is that if Russian is not supported in Captivate 5.5, it will not be possible to update the Skin Editor etc. Is that true? If so, what if I upgrade to Captivate 6 / Captivate 7?

2. I would also like to use the text-to-speech option for recording audio is Russian. Is a Russian voice available in any of the versions of Captivate? Does it come as an add-on or will I be required to purchase it?

Thanks a lot for helping.

Dear Priya,
russian language are supported in Captivate 5.5. Unfortunately were is no
localized Captivate in russian language. This means that Captivate can have
interface in all supported language, but for inputed text you CAN use russian language. Unfortunately I
don’t know that problem do you have. Perhaps you try to use russian text and system variable in one text
caption. In this case you сan have problems with russian text in your output. BTW this problem has
been fixed in Captivate 6 and 7! Anyway please feel free to ask any question about Captivate на русском ;). Удачи в освоении Adobe Сaptivate!

Hi,
I have a question about adding a button linked to a URL in quizzes. I seem to be having an issue with it working in Chrome. Not sure why. It works in the other browsers fine.

Is there a known issue?

Will the features being discussed be part of Captivate 5.5?
