Click Themes icon in the toolbar, select any default or customized theme of your choice from the drop down and click. You get a dialog asking you to confirm if you are ok with overriding existing styles and properties with this new theme. Once you confirm, the theme is applied to your project.

You can also browse for more themes from the drop-down, choose any .cptm file and apply the theme to your project.

I answered this question in another thread, where you asked the same. You have to start developing a theme with a Captivate theme (use Blank theme) because the built-in functionality for quiz slides (the dedicated master slides) are needed. I start each project by customizing one of the existing themes in the way I described in the post about Themes and Templates. https://elearning.adobe.com/2016/12/exploring-themes-and-templates-in-captivate/

…. because the quiz master slides have to be used. That means you have to edit an existing theme, whether it is responsive or not. I am always repeating the same moto: start by creating a custom Theme Colors palette, work from the Blank theme if you want to create all content slides from custom master slides. Edit the Object Styles with or without the OSM, create custom content master slides and the Skin.

I always start with a theme from Captivate and will edit it. It is even not possible to create a whole theme from scratch, beca

I’m just curious to know how many developers use the built-in themes vs. those who develop their own custom themes. I find myself doing the latter quite regularly.

Each of the default themes has an associated Theme colors palette. You can change the look of a theme immediately by applying another palette. An edited theme can be saved as a custom theme, but this has to be done with the Themes menu, not with the button Themes.
