Hello,

I am creating an eLearning game for a class and I am trying to see if Captivate has a feature for what I am trying to do. Before you read my question, check out the image I have attached. Basically, the kids will go through the treasure map to achieve the goal of the lesson. Each X in this picture is a button that leads to a new topic. Is there a way I can draw a line from X to X so that it keeps track of the student’s progress as they go through the game? I would prefer if the screen temporarily locked and the student could see a bold line going from one X and then over the dotted circles to the next X. Once the next X is reached by the line, the student could then click on the next X, which is the next lesson. Is this possible?

Completely Agree! My bad. currently we don’t have the functionality to move btw blog to question. This question looked interesting, hence approved. We will move this content from blog to other category. Sorry about this…
We will also improve the experience in Portal, where users don’t get confused with Question & Blog section.

Thanks,
Shambu

Yes, nice idea for a progress indicator.
Another approach is to add smart shapes lines over the top of your map, one for each X to X, and then hide all of them when the slide first appears. Then as the learner completes a lesson, a variable is incremented and an Advance Action unhides the next smart shape line on the pathway when the learner comes back to the map.

You could do the same using Multiple States of this image, each with more and more of the line drawn in from X to X.

The key feature you are looking for is called “svg path animation” and can be accomplished by creating the path in inkscape or illustrator. The animation uses javascript /css and libraries like vivus.js

There is likely more to it, as you may want only the “next treasure” to be an active button.

It is possible to have one slide act as the complete treasure hunt map , and have other slides as the treasure slides. This is a bit harder to develop, but is far easier to modify the paths in the future.

Another strategy is to have a set of map slides and treasure slides that the student works through. The map slides would have only one animation and one active button. This would be harder to add or change paths.
