Adobe Captivate 2017 Exciting New Features

I’ve been using Adobe Captivate for over a decade and what amazes me is that with each version, the tool (with the engineers help!) not only outperforms itself but incorporates features that we request, showing that the Adobe support team listens to us.

Although Captivate is the pioneer in the field of responsive eLearning design, it has not been complacent with this achievement. Here’s why, the 2017 captivate release has made the experience of authoring responsive content easier, more efficient, and a complete responsive experience for the end user, including height.

There are many outstanding new features but here are some of my favorites: The intelligent Fluid Boxes, that automatically realign objects on all screen sizes; Responsive Text – providing an optimal experience for end-users with smaller screens that provides a lightbox for longer text that reduce scrolling or squinting; Device specific previews, providing the developer the ability to view content without previewing on a browser or publishing; And, not only responsive Closed Captions Text, but we also now have the ability to customize the size and location on the CCT box on the screen.

This just goes to show that Adobe truly cares about their customers.

This is true (as is usually the case with many new software releases), but I’m betting there are STILL little things instructional designers and other end-users have bitched about for years that haven’t been fixed…and probably won’t be fixed unless or until a critical mass of users complain or ask for it (for example, the ability to select a “Jump to Slide” action to replay the current slide, without the need to write an advanced action to do this)…but with every new release, the number of these annoyances gets smaller, with the result that the “love-hate” relationship many folks may have with Captivate grows stronger on the “love” side than on the “hate” side…
